This Gold Coin, an official Gold Bullion Coin, is one of the most recognisable in the world. It was first released by the US Mint in 1986, in response to the South African Krugerrand, manufactured from 22-karat Gold. The obverse side features an image of Lady Liberty holding an olive branch and a torch, while in a corner is the Capitol Building. The name comes from the design on the reverse, a male bald eagle. The reverse side also features the face value and weight of each coin.
